Jonathon’s one to one

Jonathon wanted to understand why he gets bucked when jumping kickers/steep take offs. I showed him the skill in his skill set that needed correcting and why and then I set to work. Drops were first and the new skills really changed how he felt on his bike and we moved to the 6ft tabletop and gap jump. By the time we broke for coffee and food he was sailing over these effortlessly.

We resumed and worked on pumping and cornering and also getting used to jumping further on a 14ft tabletop. Even a crash later on in the session didn’t faze him as he knew what he did wrong when he braked before take off and then sat back.

We rode steep drop offs in a way that was far more controlled and faster than he’d have tried before. Before we finished,  I moved him back to the 6ft tabletop and he found he could clear it with much less speed than earlier in the day . Great session dude.

Will and Paul’s two to one session

Will and PAul are best mates and wanted to attend a mountain bike skills coaching session with myself. I had coached PAul once before about five years ago. I started as always with the skills check and that gave me the outline of a plan for the session and beyond for their riding. Drops, jumps, pumping and cornering were all worked on so that the boys could be a lot more fluid in their riding and make it more effortless.

Conquering fears and learning new skills

Darren is a local rider and wanted to gain the techniques required to stop him having to climb off his bike at obstacles . The skills check showed him where he was failing in a simple manner and I built his skill sets from there.

It wasn’t long before he was riding drop offs , cornering, rock gardens, pumping, drops and also riding over tree stumps easily. The torrential rain that arrived didn’t dampen the session. Brilliant improvements dude.

Faraz finds the rider within

Faraz has been riding for under two years and wanted mountain bike coaching to find the correct way to do stuff.  I corrected his skill set and showed him why too. Before long he was riding drops higher than before and clearing his first jumps, both tabletops and gap too. Cornering was transformed too.

An amazing session with huge improvements.

Cambridge cc cyclo-cross session

I had coached David previously a couple of years ago and the cyclo cross riders at his club wanted some coaching and he recommended myself to them. The skills and techniques I teach were applied to various sections of trail and also on complete trails too.

Riding over large obstacles that cannot be rolled over, drops, steeps into corners, cornering, pumping and the beginnings of jumping too. An absolutely awesome session unfolded and it was a pleasure to watch each of them grow faster and smoother.

I cannot sign off without a mention of their packed lunch they brought……Homemade bread, soup and various cakes and my @hasbean coffee to compliment it. Best cake ever…..polenta lemon cake, high5 to that Luke

Brilliant riding guys.
