Jo and Nia wanted to fly

Jo and Nia came to me for another mountain bike skills coaching session and this time they wanted to get airtime.

During the session I adjusted their set ups and corrected a small error in their cornering too. By the end of the session they had ridden over large obstacles, drops, berms, tabletops and a gap jump. We also worked on riding multiple jumps too. Brilliant improvement and a great session.

Nik’s 7 year itch

I coached Nik back in 2011 and he returned after life and a couple of bad crashes had set him back mentally on his bike. I discovered that body positioning was in need of work and that set the tone for the mountain bike skills coaching session.

Bit by bit I pieced his skills set together through corners, drops, steeps, jumps, drop offs and gap jumps.

Great session dude, high5!

Pete, Jeff and Al feel the force

Peter, Al and Jeff came to me via recommendation and I began by showing them why the felt a lack of control when riding off road. I adjusted their set ups and corrected their positioning first then added looking and footwork into the mix. The boys got more and more confident as their control felt so more enhanced now.

Matt and Gary get to grips with their riding

Matt owns a bike shop in Essex called grips bikes and he came along today with his mate Gary for a session to learn why their jumping is hit and miss and anything else I could help them with. Footwork, looking and positioning were all worked on and then the corrected skill set applied to the techniques I teach. We covred riding over obstacles, cornering, jumping tabletops and linking jumps, pumping and absorbing jumps, drops and gap jumps. Phew, what a session.

Andrew’s one to one

Andrew took advantage of a last minute cancellation and arrived raring to go and have his skill set changed.

He wanted an overall adjustment and I built the session accordingly. Drops, jumping tabletops, gap jumps, cornering, pumping and riding drop offs were all covered and ridden simpler and easier than before for Andrew. Body positioning and looking were worked on and his weakness in right hand turns.

Rob’s birthday session with his mate Jack

Both sets of parents bought them mountain bike skills coaching vouchers from myself for today. Both were nervous when we met but that soon dissipated as I corrected their missing skills and gradually built the session up. They wanted to learn to jump and never in their wildest dreams did they imagine what they’d be riding by the end of the session.

Drops to 5ft, tabletops to 14ft, corners and pumping were also covered but the 6ft, 7ft, 9ft, 10ft and 16ft gap jumps they rode blew them away.

Brilliant session, High5!
