Ben has a background in roller hockey and skateboarding and has recently been bitten by the mountain bike bug. He wanted to gain the illusive flow of a trail and maybe learn to jump, but the session was way more than that as I was able to use his experiences from other sports and apply them to this sport.
See what I did there 🙂
I used to race against Colin over twenty years ago in triathlon and he was recommended my coaching for mountain biking. It was awesome to see him again and to coach him at his new chosen sport of mountain biking. He wanted to learn to jump, but the session went further than he thought as I brought him through jumps, drops, steeps, cornering, riding obstacles and so on. Colin applied his new skills to everything using the mental skill set i teach.
Amazing session dude!
Among other techniques but on meeting, I explained the simple skill set I teach and it’s application.I corrected their missing skills and made some small adjustments to their set up (explained in my youtube vids )
Looking and positioning were paramount in needing work and also Marks’ footwork. Jumps, drops, berms, steeps, obstacles, pumping and gap jumps were all ridden and they both understood when it was right or wrong and why.
I have coached Lisa’s husband before and he bought her a gift voucher for a one to one session from me to build her confidence on her bike.
Lisa wanted to feel more control in corners and in her riding in general. I worked on the physical skills set and the mental skills too and the difference was huge by the end of the session.
I coached Ross two years ago and he return with riding buddy Bryan to move his riding on but also iron out some errors he felt in his riding.
I adjusted their set up and worked on positioning and the all important looking. Foot position on flat pedals made a huge difference too. I think the pictures tell the tale better than I can.
Dave and Andy wanted some coaching to learn to carry speed through turns , ride over logs and learn how to jump properly.
I broke their riding down and made a small adjustment to Dave’s set up and away we went. The session unfolded under the blue skies and what a session it was. Now they knew about their body positioning and understood the mental skills , their riding really bloomed.
