What a session today was. Chris was worried about the weather but the all weather trails meant we were good to go. I was able to use his snowboarding experience to really develop his mtb skills set. I worked hard with him as he’d never cleared a tabletop jump on a mtb but a snowboard jump would be no issue. I showed him why this was and he clicked straight away. jumps, turns, pumping and gap jumping all seemed easy to him suddenly.
I coached Rich in July on a public session but he wanted to return and bring his lifelong mate Joe along for a session too, so they could push their riding further. I broke their skills down and rebuilt it into a simpler and easier version of mountain biking. It really resonated with them as corners, jumps, drops, steeps and gaps all suddenly became a breeze for them.
I coach on Saturday’s during winter and today was the first. Dale made the trip down from Preston for his one to one wanting to learn to jump. I broke his skill set down and rebuilt it back, along with his mental skills too. Dale had never cleared a tabletop before today, but by the end of the session, Dale was clearing 9ft gaps!
Jon and Tim have been coached elsewhere previously and came to me via recommendation from riding buddies. They wanted to iron out any errors I could find in their riding. Positioning of body and feet were in need of correcting and that led on into the techniques required to ride obstacles, jump , drop and turn.
Paul and His sons Zach and Dillon came across for a session with me after recommendations from his friends. He was worried about the how different in ability they were to each other but that was absolutely not an issue once I began. Footwork, positioning, looking and speed were all worked on and applied to the techniques I teach and BOOM!
They wanted to learn to jump but today was about so much more. I think i’ll let the pics and vids tell the story
